COOL NEW PROTOTYPES APPEAR ON EBAY!
These were sold by The Earth Toy Mall in Ohio.
Concept prototype poseable! I won this awesome item for a really nice price!
It is 3 1/4" tall, just slightly shorter than the production Care Bears poseables. The arms are solid rubber, and the head, body and legs are hollow. The head does turn, and the other limbs are moveable also. Stamped on all parts except the arms is "C.P.G FWF / EXP. 1982"
Hardcopy prototype poseable! I unfortunately was prevented from bidding on this because my kids needed caring for at the last moments of auction. It went for $122.50. It is made of Carbalon, a heavy material that was used to make prototypes at Kenner in the 1980's. It is just slightly larger than the production Care Bears poseables. The head and all of the limbs are removable and are stuck on with a sticky goo. The goo makes it easy to reposition the head and limbs any way you want. As always in this stage of production, there are no copyright markings of any kind. There are several different Care Bears that used this head and arms, so this represents more than one bear. The left hand was molded with a stick in it - at first glance, it looks like it had an accessory that was broken off, however we believe that there was a pin placed in the Care Bears hand to make it easier to sculpt in an open position. So, it is not broken.

This Wax prototype of The Brave Heart Lion Miniature went for $46.00. The Baby Hugs wax prototype went for $45.44

This highly rare 18" Swift Heart Rabbit Plush Prototype finished at $248.50! The Bright Heart Racoon (in not-so-good shape) went for $91.00! Remember, these were unproduced prototypes!

These three prototypes had hand painted eyes and mark tags. The two Bedtimes went for $36.89. The Friend, $28.56

PLAYALONG TOYS CONFIRMS, NO MORE PLAYSETS OR FIGURES!
After bothering Play Along Toys with a torrid of e-mail they have confirmed to me that they will no longer make playsets or poseables. This is very dissapointing to me, since they keep coughing up new plush with only slight variations, meanwhile ignoring other mediums. I suppose when you get right down to it, the playsets were poor sellers. In my opinion they failed because they were not fun or cute enough to interact with children's imaginations. There is a market for figures (examine the popularity of the Little People line). Play Along messed up big time! I can only hope they don't oversaturate the desire for plush, and thus flood the market, causing prices to go down.
